Moving a lender's core workloads to Canadian cloud regions

A wave-based migration of 120 workloads from an ageing data centre to AWS ca-central-1, with landing zones and guardrails as code.

The challenge

A data centre lease was ending, and the firm needed to exit without disrupting lending operations or breaching data residency requirements.

What we built

We designed a multi-account landing zone with policy-as-code guardrails, grouped workloads into migration waves by dependency, and ran rehearsed cut-overs over weekends.

The result

The data centre was exited two months early, with every workload in Canadian regions and a FinOps practice keeping spend in check.
