A multi-carrier shipping platform handling peak-season volume without a hiccup

We re-architected a monolithic shipping application into event-driven services on Kubernetes, unifying 40+ carrier integrations behind a single API.

The challenge

Label generation slowed to a crawl during peak season, and every new carrier integration took weeks because logic was scattered across a monolith.

What we built

We introduced a carrier adapter pattern behind a unified rating and labelling API, moved label generation to an event-driven worker pool on EKS with autoscaling, and added end-to-end tracing across every carrier call.

The result

The platform processed four times its previous peak volume with no incidents, new carriers now integrate in days, and infrastructure costs dropped by more than a third.
