Enterprise software is full of the hardest accessibility patterns: dense data tables, multi-step forms, drag-and-drop and live-updating dashboards. Fixing them after an audit is slow and expensive.
The better approach is to solve each pattern once, in the component library, with keyboard support, focus management and correct semantics built in and tested automatically.
Automated tools catch around a third of issues. The rest need manual testing with keyboards and screen readers, which we schedule into every sprint rather than saving for the end.
Accessible software is also better software: clearer labels, predictable focus and good contrast help every user, especially those working quickly under pressure.
